Why Funeral Expense Trusts?
Funeral Expense Trusts offer an effective solution to the most common final expense problem - access. FETs bypass the need to wait for a death certificate, and are settled within 24-48 hours. Contrastingly, traditional final expense methods can be complex and time-consuming, often leaving a client's family members to pay out-of-pocket for funeral costs while they wait for lengthy claims processing. Rather than grappling with added stress and financial burdens, beneficiaries should be free during this time to focus on their lost loved one.
How do they work?
Designed to bridge the access gap within traditional final expense planning, FETs operate on a quick setup process, irrevocability, and a straightforward claims process. They are built on a Whole Life Chassis, so there is no underwriting (100% guaranteed acceptance rate for clients). As secure segregated funds, FETs are irrevocable and can only be paid to the funeral home or family member beneficiaries. They are also Medicaid eligible and exempt from Medicaid long-term care spend-down. Any unused excess funds are payable to the descendant's estate.
What is the commission?
Agents and advisors who incorporate FETs into their business benefit from a significant commission uplift. Commission payouts are up to 15%. Appealing trust premiums (trust deposits for couples average $25,000). Commissions are paid weekly. The average advisor can realize an increase of $50,000-$80,000 in commissions on their existing book of business alone.
Integrating FETs into a book of business
Funeral Expense Trusts can be seamlessly integrated into an advisor or agent's book of business, and they are easy to position with new or existing clients.
